If you're more of a night owl, you may showcase your quirky personality by having breakfast for dinner instead. However and whenever you prefer to indulge in breakfast cuisine, we've put together a bonafide list of the best breakfast ideas to make!

Eggs in a Basket

If there is one thing we know for sure, it’s that time-saving life hacks for busy mornings are a blessing. Enjoy a quick morning meal without stress with this straightforward recipe for eggs in a basket!

  • Bread of choice, sliced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon butter
  • Salt & pepper to taste

  1. Melt the butter in a medium-sized pan over medium heat.
  2. Cut a hole in the center of the bread and set the excess bread aside. Place the sliced bread in the pan and crack the egg into the hole.
  3. Sprinkle salt and pepper over the egg and cook for a few minutes or until the egg is prepared to your liking. Make sure to flip the bread occasionally once the egg white sets to toast both sides.
  4. Remove from heat and enjoy!

Simple Sausage Gravy

Nothing can calm the chaos of life quite like a cozy homemade meal. And when it’s something as cheerful as homemade biscuits and gravy? That’s even better! Check out this breakfast gravy recipe that’s perfect for comfy weekend mornings.

  • 8 ounces ground breakfast sausage
  • 2 Tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 2 ½ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon pepper

  1. Prepare the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the meat is cooked through, transfer the sausage to a plate, reserving the drippings in the skillet.
  2. Place the skillet back onto the heat and add the butter. After it has melted, slowly whisk the flour into the skillet to form a roux.
  3. Before the roux begins to color, whisk in the milk little by little. Sprinkle with black pepper and reduce heat to allow the gravy to thicken. Continue whisking for about 10 minutes over medium-low heat.
  4. Stir the sausage back into the gravy and let sit over heat for another 1-2 minutes.
  5. Serve alongside biscuits and enjoy!

Candied Bacon

Taste the best of both worlds with this candied bacon recipe! It pairs savory smoked bacon with sweet brown sugar for a delectable morning treat!

  • ½ pound bacon, sliced
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

  • Preheat the oven to 375º F and line a large baking sheet with foil.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Dip each slice of bacon into the brown sugar mix and be sure to coat both sides. Then, lay the coated bacon onto the lined baking sheet and repeat for the remaining bacon slices.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes to cool before serving.
  • Enjoy!

  1. Open the can of biscuits and lay them out on a sheet of parchment paper. Use a biscuit or cookie cutter to cut out the middle of each of the rounds.
  2. Place a few of the rounds in the air fryer, keeping space between the biscuits, and cook at 360º F for around 5 minutes.
  3. Meanwhile, combine the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl and melt the butter.
  4. Once the biscuits are done, brush them with the melted butter and immediately sprinkle them with the cinnamon sugar mixture until well-coated.

  • Bread of choice, sliced
  • Pesto
  • 1 egg
  • Olive oil
  • Red pepper flakes

  1. Warm the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Toast the bread to your liking.
  2. While the bread is toasting, prepare the avocado by halving, pitting, and slicing, and set aside.
  3. After the toast is ready, remove it from the pan. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and place a heaping spoonful of pesto into the pan. Crack the egg into the pesto and cook to your liking.
  4. Meanwhile, transfer the avocado slices to the toast. Top with the cooked egg and sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
  5. Enjoy!

Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Remember how great breakfast cereal was as a kid? Now, you can recreate that magic with a little more mindfulness thanks to our homemade cinnamon toast crunch recipe!

  • 4 teaspoons cinnamon, divided
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 ¼ cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 ¼ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 cup butter, cold and cut into ½ inch pieces
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2-4 Tablespoons butter, melted

  1. Preheat the oven to 350º F, flour a smooth working surface, and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, combine 1 Tablespoon of cinnamon and all of the sugar evenly.
  3. Add the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, remaining cinnamon, salt, and cold butter to a food processor. Pulse until the mixture becomes clumpy, then add the vanilla and 1 Tablespoon of cold water at a time, continuing to pulsate, until a dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll into a ball. Divide the ball in half, and begin rolling one half of the dough into a sheet about ⅛ -inch thick.
  5. Transfer the dough sheet to the parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the dough and gently press the mixture into the dough itself. Then, cut into ½-inch squares.
  6. Repeat the same steps with the remaining half of the dough ball.
  7. Once ready, place in the oven to bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove from heat and let cool completely before serving. Enjoy!

Honey Butter Crescent Rolls

When you know you’ve got a long day ahead, start your morning with a hearty breakfast like these hot ham and cheese sliders with poppy seeds.

  • Honey ham slices
  • Swiss cheese slices
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons poppy seeds
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 Tablespoons mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Unroll crescent rolls, and divide the sheet in half. Lay one half on a lined baking sheet and pinch the seams together to create a sheet of dough. Repeat to the other half of the dough and set aside.
  3. Layer the ham slices and Swiss cheese across the sheet of dough and then top with the other half of the crescent rolls. Using your fingertips, pinch the edges together all the way around to seal all of the sides.
  4. In a small bowl, mix melted butter, onion powder, poppyseeds, mayonnaise, dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth. Brush the top of the crescent rolls with the butter mixture.
  5. Bake for 12 minutes on the middle rack, then 3 minutes more on the top rack, or until golden brown.
