Take a trip down memory lane with a delicious snack from your childhood!
Your favorite after-school snack, all grown up! These brown butter rice Krispies are the perfect throwback treat!
Nostalgia is a very powerful thing. There is a reason so many production companies have been rebooting classics from the past like crazy, and it’s because most people love nostalgia. Whether those reboots are worth watching may be up for debate, but what isn’t is how fun it can be to remember the good ol’ days! Is it seeing things through rose-colored glasses? Probably, but if it means getting to enjoy beloved childhood treats again, why not?
Coming home from school to an evening filled with neighborhood exploration and general youth ruckus was a hard job, so having some tasty homemade snacks on hand was a must for staying energized. Sharing a bite of a gooey, sugary, crispy treat with friends and family is a memory many of us cherish when looking back, why not recreate it and indulge in that childlike comfort once again?
How to Make Brown Butter Rice Krispies
You may not have realized it as a kid, but these rice Krispie treats are actually incredibly simple and easy to make at home. Of course, no one will ever make them as delicious as our parents did on those weekday evenings, but luckily, this recipe is a close second!
Grab yourself some butter, marshmallows, salt, and, of course, rice Krispies. Once you have all of the necessary ingredients, prep a 9x12-inch baking dish by lining it with parchment paper. It won’t be going into the oven, but the parchment paper will make serving and clean-up a breeze!
Melt the butter in a saucepan on the stove over medium heat, making sure to stir frequently to prevent burning. After some time, the butter should reach a golden-brown color, which is exactly what we’re after! Once it browns, remove it from the heat and toss in the marshmallows. Continue to stir the mixture to combine!
In the same saucepan as the butter and marshmallows, sprinkle the salt and the Rice Krispies. Use a spoon to mix and mix until the gooey goodness of rice Krispies is evenly distributed.
Scoop the mixture into the lined baking dish and level the top by using a little bit of pressure and a spoon!
These rice Krispie treats are a great way to indulge in that feeling of nostalgia and share the fun with family and friends! Enjoy with a glass of cold milk or maybe even sprinkle in some chocolate chips or M&M’s for even more sweetness!
