These crisp, chocolate-studded cookies may look like traditional biscotti, but they bring their own unique charm to the table. Chocolate Almond Biscotti is a classic Italian treat, known for its twice-baked process that creates its signature crunch.
This recipe takes a rich, chocolatey twist on the classic, pairing deep cocoa flavor with toasted almonds for a nutty crunch. A final dip in smooth melted chocolate adds just the right touch of indulgence, making them irresistible with a morning espresso or as an afternoon treat.

Cook Time: 2 Hours
Step One: Preheat your oven to 350°. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
Step Two: In a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, combine the butter and sugar on medium-high speed until light and fluffy. Turn to low, then add the eggs, one at a time. Add the almond extract. Pour in half of the flour mixture and mix on low. Add the second half of the flour mixture. Once combined, add the almonds and one cup of chocolate chips. Mix until just combined.
Step Three: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Flour your work surface and divide the dough in two. Roll each section into a log, just shorter than the length of the baking sheet. Place the logs on the baking sheet and press them until they’re 2 ½ inches wide. Bake for 40 min.
Step Four: Remove the logs from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 275°. Let the logs cool for 30 min, then slice on a diagonal about ¾ inch thick.
Step Five: Place a wire rack over the baking sheet, and lay the slices down cut side up. Bake for 15 min. While the biscotti is cooking, melt the remaining cup of chocolate chips. Dip one end of each biscotti into the chocolate. Let the excess drip off, then lay on a parchment lined baking sheet. Once the baking sheet is full, refrigerate for 10 min or until chocolate is set.
