The number of people that aren’t fans of the classic spaghetti and meatballs dish that many of us grew up enjoying throughout our lives could probably be counted on a single hand. Well, maybe that was a bit dramatic, but odds are you are a fan of the tasty concoction yourself, and there’s good reason to be! Savory and tender baked meatballs paired with tangy marinara sauce topped on a heaping pile of fresh-cooked spaghetti… It really is a masterpiece of a meal!
Everyone has their own little flair to their homemade spaghetti and meatballs, but nine times out of ten it is a homerun no matter what! If you don’t have your own go-to spaghetti and meatball recipe, we are at your service! We’ve done the work of trial and error and put together a comprehensive recipe that gets you maximum flavor with minimal effort. In other words, we have the perfect recipe for a classic dinner for two!
Luckily, this meal is as simple as it sounds, both in the ingredients required to make it and the process of making it, too! To make this tasty meal, all you’ll be needing is some ground beef, a few eggs, breadcrumbs, heavy cream, grated parmesan cheese, and some seasonings like basil, garlic, oregano, and salt and pepper! Oh, and of course you’ll need to grab a jar of your favorite marinara sauce and some spaghetti noodles, as well!
Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, you’re ready to get cooking! The meatballs require the most work, so you’ll want to focus your efforts there early on. Simply combine all of your ingredients (excluding the beef, sauce, and the noodles, of course) in a large bowl. Make sure they are well mixed, and then add in the ground beef. This helps to ensure there is an even distribution of flavors in the meatballs which you will thank yourself for later! Then, use your hands to knead them together. It may sound like more work, but using your hands for this step is going to yield better results every time!
After your meat and other ingredients have been thoroughly mixed, use your hands to create the meatballs! You can make them whatever size you’d like. Maybe you’re wanting to make some fun appetizer meatballs for a tailgate, the bigger the better! But if you’re just wanting a classic spaghetti and meatball dinner, you should shoot for your meatballs to be about the same size as a golf ball. Line a baking tray with parchment paper and place your meatballs about ½-1 inch apart. Then, place your army of meatballs in the oven at 350°F for about 30 minutes.
While your meatballs are baking, begin getting the rest of your dinner ready. Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook your spaghetti until it is ready to enjoy, drain, and set aside!
You can also place your marinara sauce in a saucepan and simmer on low heat while you wait so you can enjoy a nice hot meal when all is said and done.
Before we get ahead of ourselves, the meatballs aren’t quite done yet. For the best meatballs you’ve had in your life, set your oven to broil on high after the meatballs have cooked for 30 minutes. Leave them in the oven to brown for about three to four minutes before bringing them out to enjoy!
After your meatballs have browned, your spaghetti has cooked, and your sauce is warmed up, you’re all ready for a delicious homemade dinner!
A dinner for two that stands the test of time, this recipe is the foundation of a wonderful homecooked meal!
