One of the most rewarding experiences of catering a multitude of events, besides being a part of unforgettable experiences, is getting the chance to work with a number of talented and high-end vendors and venues. From florists to designers to family-owned properties, the vendors and venues we work with leave a lasting impression on us and guests alike. One of those venues is the beautiful Selwood Farm, located near Talladega, Alabama, the famous home of Nascar.
Selwood Farm is a hunting preserve that hosts a variety of activities and events on its natural estate, including weddings, business and corporate events, and even fundraising events! What makes it such a successful backdrop to so many types of occasions is that the property sports a rich and natural beauty to ensure successful hunting that its charm can’t be replicated elsewhere.
This event is not the first experience Table & Thyme has shared with Selwood Farm. In fact, a stylized photoshoot featuring several local vendors took place along the winding trails and towering trees of the venue. It’s not every day that Table & Thyme gets to work so closely with vendors in order to showcase all of our tablets, but when the opportunities do come, it is very exciting for everyone involved! Our blog features most of our past work, ranging from these stylized shoots to captured moments of previously catered events, as well as life-hacks and recipes we love, so it was the perfect place to present the results of our shoot at Selwood Farm. We shared some highlights of that photoshoot in a previous blog titled Selwood Farm, including a gourmet grazing table spread, wedding cake design, and so much more! If you’re interested in seeing our previous work at this gorgeous venue, feel free to take a look at the blog!
Take these event highlights, both our previous photoshoot and this afternoon luncheon, as inspiration for what you can achieve by working with Table & Thyme and Selwood Farm for your next event! Maybe you are planning a wedding, an engagement party, a club meeting, or a family reunion, you’ve got a devoted catering service and a fantastic venue waiting to meet your every need with a timeless and natural aesthetic.
This event featured all of our favorite lunch classics with some down-to-earth flair. Join us while we take a look back at this delicious spread for a casual yet classy outdoor dining event!
For starters, guests were served fresh summer salads made with crunchy spring mix, zesty red onions, creamy goat cheese crumbles, sweet sliced strawberry, and delectable candied pecans. To top this salad, a gourmet honey mustard dressing courtesy of Labrot & Graham accompanied the lunch spread.
Guests were also served some of our classic Créole Devilled Eggs topped with homemade bacon jam and fresh chives and our fun presentation of shrimp cocktail. This consisted of savory seasoned shrimp dressed in rich cocktail sauce and garnished with lemon, cilantro, and pickled red onions.
Alongside the soft, fresh, and zesty appetizers, guests were given several options for sides and main proteins alike. Fried zucchini offered a summer-themed starch vehicle steamed mixed vegetables amplified the naturalistic tone to the event. For the main protein options, spicy hot buffalo wings paired with slow-smoked and marinated brisket for flavorful and hearty bites. Served with our sister company Mealfit’s signature Alabama Ivory Sauce, this lunch spread served a range of flavors, textures, colors, dishes, and appetizing aromas for a memorable afternoon among the trees and wilderness of Selwood Farm.
