Simple Sausage Gravy
Nothing can calm the chaos of life quite like a cozy homemade meal. And when it’s something as cheerful as homemade biscuits and gravy? That’s even better! Check out this breakfast gravy recipe that’s perfect for comfy weekend mornings.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces ground breakfast sausage
- 2 Tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup flour
- 2 ½ cup milk
- ½ teaspoon pepper
Directions
- Prepare the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the meat is cooked through, transfer the sausage to a plate, reserving the drippings in the skillet.
- Place the skillet back onto the heat and add the butter. After it has melted, slowly whisk the flour into the skillet to form a roux.
- Before the roux begins to color, whisk in the milk little by little. Sprinkle with black pepper and reduce heat to allow the gravy to thicken. Continue whisking for about 10 minutes over medium-low heat.
- Stir the sausage back into the gravy and let sit over heat for another 1-2 minutes.
- Serve alongside biscuits and enjoy!
