Spooky season lovers know that the cost of getting into the Halloween spirit can add up eerily fast. Decorations and costumes may look great, but they can also leave your wallet looking a little… haunted. So, finding fall DIYs and Halloween party food ideas on a budget is an absolute must. That’s why we are sharing our new favorite creepy dessert recipe!
Whether you are the ultimate holiday party host or someone that loves festive fall fun, try this simple recipe for Halloween cookies that are oh-so-scary good.
Trick or treat? More like here’s an easy trick to make adorable treats without needing any cookie cutters!
To make these ghostly cookies, you only need 3 ingredients! Of course, you’ll need to start with the cookies. Sugar or shortbread is the best variety to use for this recipe. And there are so many flavored cookies to choose from to make this Halloween party snack even more devilishly delicious.
We used Milano’s Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Cookies. They’re the perfect shape and size for this project, and they add a classic pumpkin flavor with a layer of milk chocolate filling, too!
You will also need some white melting chocolate and mini-dark chocolate chips.
Since white chocolate is such a big part of this recipe, we suggest reaching for a baking brand you trust for good quality. Ghirardelli’s Classic White Baking Chips are a superb choice since they are ideal for melting while maintaining a rich, creamy white chocolatey taste.
Lastly, Publix offers a great deal on Mini Chocolate Morsels that just so happen to work well as tiny ghost eyes on spooky Halloween cookies.
You will also want a baking sheet lined with wax paper at the ready!
After getting ahold of all the ingredients you need for this recipe, you are ready to become the next ghost (cookie) whisperer!
Start by pouring the white chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Start with ½ cup of white chocolate. If you end up needing more, just repeat this step as necessary.
Microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds. Then, take out the bowl and give the chips a good stir. They will likely still be quite solid, so put them back into the microwave and cook for another 30 seconds. Continue melting the chocolate slowly, stirring regularly until it becomes creamy and smooth. This is the best way to prevent over-cooking or burning!
Once your chocolate is melted, dip the cookies into the white chocolate. Use a spoon if need be to coat the cookies in chocolate completely. Then, lift them from the bowl and let any excess drip off.
Lay them carefully onto the wax paper and place two mini chocolate chips on the top of the cookies as eyes. You want to do this while the chocolate is still soft, so do it between dips.
After your ghosts have been given the gift of sight, prepare yourself for the next step, it’s the most chilling!
Move the baking sheet to the refrigerator for at least 5-10 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden and set. Then, your little ghost friends will be ready to join the party!
By far one of the easiest Halloween recipes you’ll ever make, these no-bake ghost cookies are just as precious as they are delectable. And they only require 3 ingredients!
We hope you enjoyed this fun Halloween snack hack because we sure did!
